At SL Aesthetic Group, we were deeply saddened to learn about the abrupt closure of Novu Aesthetics on March 15, 2021. The unexpected shutdown not only left the medical aesthetic chain’s staff in a precarious situation but also left numerous customers in the lurch, facing uncertainties about their prepaid plans and ongoing treatments.
In the wake of this unfortunate event, we recognized the potential impact on consumer confidence within the aesthetics industry as a whole and knew that we had an opportunity to offer support to those affected by the sudden closure.
Teaming up in a joint effort, SL Aesthetic Clinic and SkinLab made a compassionate and genuine gesture to assist customers who found themselves stranded without access to their prepaid treatments from Novu Aesthetics. We wanted to reassure the community that even in challenging times, solidarity and support can prevail.
In a Zoom meeting with the media on Wednesday, March 24, our founder, Dr. Chua, expressed our sincere commitment to helping those who had been left “high and dry” by the closure of Novu Aesthetics. Dr. Chua emphasised that this collaborative initiative was not the result of any business deal or acquisition plan. It was a purely altruistic endeavour, a free and no-strings-attached offer to genuinely assist individuals grappling with the aftermath of Novu Aesthetics’ sudden closure.
Dr. Chua highlighted the potential ripple effect on the entire aesthetics industry, stating, “When this saga happened, I don’t think it is good for the industry and our image. It will affect a lot of aesthetic clinics… Consumers will lose their confidence. I think it is very sad. This is not the first time a clinic or spa chain closed down.”
Since extending our helping hand, nearly 180 customers of Novu Aesthetics have reached out to us, seeking support and understanding during this challenging period.
